The objective of the inspection program is to extend the mandate of the Thunder Bay District Health Unit into the unorganized territory of the Thunder Bay District. This is done through the enforcement of the Health Protection and Promotion Act, including food safety, safe drinking water, identification and elimination of health hazards and the proper and sanitary disposal of sewage and waste.
In 2015, 340 inspections were carried out in the unorganized territory of the Thunder Bay District.
