As per our Scent Safe Workplace Policy (PDF), the Thunder Bay District Health Unit is dedicated to providing a healthy and safe environment for our staff, students, volunteers and visitors.
For this reason, scented and fragrant products are not to be worn or used at the Thunder Bay District Health Unit offices.
The Health Unit has the right to ask clients to reschedule their visits or appointments if they are wearing scented products that are affecting an employee.
A scented or fragrant product is any product strong enough to be noticed by others. These products may include:
- colognes
- perfumes
- after shaves
- soaps
- lotions
- hair products
- air fresheners
- deodorizers
Flowers that have a scent or fragrance strong enough to be noticed by others are also considered scented products (example lilies, hyacinths, hibiscuses).
If you have any questions about our policy, please contact our Human Resources program at 625-5953.
