December 11, 2020 - Path 525 has reported an increase in overdoses requiring breathing support in the last couple of days.
“Yellow Down” and “Kool-Aid Blue Down” may be contaminated with benzos and appear to be very toxic right now.
Police have also reported an apparent surge in drug related deaths from December 4th – 11th, 2020.
Ensure you take precautions to reduce your risk of overdose.
Reduce your risk
- Never use alone, or have someone check in on you
- Use the Supervised Consumption Service - Path 525 (open Monday - Saturday 10am-6pm @ NorWest CHC)
- Start low and go slow (e.g., with every new purchase, start with 1/3 of a normal dose)
- Avoid using drugs at the same time if using in a group
- Carry naloxone (available free from the Health Unit [621-7861] and most community social service agencies and pharmacies).
- Call 911 if someone develops signs of an overdose
Signs of overdose
- Impaired breathing, loss of consciousness, inability to talk, blue fingernails or lips, or loud snoring or gurgling.
