COVID-19 and Flu Vaccines Available Now for High Risk and Priority Groups

TBDHU encourages everyone to protect themselves from seasonal illnesses by getting vaccinated against COVID-19 and flu as soon as they become available to them.

Vaccines are now available to those who are at higher risk of severe illness from an infection, while everyone else becomes eligible on October 28.

Those who are at a higher risk of severe illness includes, but is not limited to:

  • Children under 5
  • Adults 65 and older
  • Those with underlying medical conditions
  • Pregnant people, and
  • Those in or from First Nation, Inuit or Métis communities

Also, those who work in settings caring for higher risk individuals, and first responders, are also part of this first priority group. A full list is available at www.tbdhu.com/fallvax2024

Receiving both COVID-19 and flu vaccines at the same time is safe and convenient, and reduces the number of visits to health care providers and makes it easier for families.

Vaccines are also available from participating pharmacies and the public is encouraged to check with the pharmacy before they go. Many health care providers will also offer the vaccines.

In the City of Thunder Bay:

TBDHU will offer a series of COVID-19 clinics throughout October and November at the CLE Coliseum in Thunder Bay for those who are considered high priority. A flu shot will also be offered at these clinics. Check clinic dates at www.tbdhu.com/covidvaccines and book online through the provincial booking system at http://www.ontario.ca/book-vaccine/ or by calling 1-833-943-3900.

In Communities Across the District of Thunder Bay:

Appointment-based clinics for both COVID-19 and flu vaccines will be open to everyone 6 months and older, to be held in several communities across the District beginning at the end of October. A full clinic list is available at www.tbdhu.com/districtvaccines and includes the phone number to call for booking an appointment.
