Thunder Bay District Health Unit Receives Employer Allyship Award at National Workplace Wellness Festival

The Community Addictions Peer Support Association (CAPSA) recently honoured Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) with their Employer Allyship Award. CAPSA is a national organization committed to addressing stigma and working alongside organizations to enhance substance use health through education, research, and policy change.

The award was presented to TBDHU at CAPSA’s Working on Wellness festival in Ottawa. TBDHU was acknowledged for its leadership and ongoing efforts to promote substance use health education and reducing stigma in workplaces and the community, most notably through initiatives like the anti-stigma campaign, “I Heart Someone Who Uses Drugs” and providing free stigma reduction training to the community.

The Employer Allyship Award reflects TBDHU’s ongoing commitment to fostering healthier, stigma-free environments for both employees and clients. TBDHU extends their gratitude to CAPSA for this recognition and for being the first organization to receive this award. TBDHU remains dedicated to advancing substance use health and continues to collaborate with CAPSA by promoting workplace policies and practices related to substance use health in the Thunder Bay District.
