The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks has confirmed the presence of blue-green algae (BGA) in a water sample collected at Hattie Cove on August 11, 2025. Hattie Cove is located within Pukaskwa National Park near Marathon.

July 3, 2020 - The outbreak of gastrointestinal illness at Bethammi Nursing home located at 63 Carrie St. Thunder Bay has been declared over. All outbreak restrictions have been lifted.
The Health Unit is urging people to stay at home and refrain from visiting hospitals and long-term care facilities when feeling unwell to avoid spreading infections to those most vulnerable: young infants and children, the elderly and those with other chronic illnesses.
January 21, 2019 – The Thunder Bay District Health Unit will be hosting a gathering, Understanding Our Food Systems, for fourteen (14) road accessible First Nations and invited guests from January 22nd to 24th.
