COVID-19 Outbreak Over at Southbridge Pinewood

November 7, 2022 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and Southbridge Care Homes announce that the outbreak at Southbridge Pinewood (Hummingbird, Kingfisher, Blue Heron and Sandpiper Home Areas), in Thunder Bay is now over.

Prior to the outbreak, significant measures were already in place to reduce the likelihood of transmission of the virus within the facility. Expanded precautions were implemented for the duration of the outbreak.

Dear Parents and Caregivers of School-aged Children:

In recent weeks, we have seen a significant increase in respiratory viruses and illness in our communities. This level of illness has increased even over pre-pandemic levels. We are experiencing an early start to the influenza (“the flu”) season in our area with the flu spreading now and expected to increase over the coming weeks. COVID-19 is also spreading at moderate to high levels and it is anticipated to increase.

November 4, 2022 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and Chartwell Thunder Bay Retirement Residence (Arundel Street) confirm that a COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at the facility, in Thunder Bay.

TBDHU has initiated a thorough assessment of the situation. Further measures will be taken as needed to manage this situation.

November 2, 2022 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and St. Joseph’s Care Group confirm that a COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at Hogarth Riverview Manor, 4 North, Iris Resident Home area, in Thunder Bay.

TBDHU has initiated a thorough assessment of the situation. Further measures will be taken as needed to manage this situation.

COVID-19 Outbreak Declared Over at St. Joseph’s Hospital – 4th Floor

October 27, 2022 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and St. Joseph’s Care Group announce that the outbreak at St. Joseph’s Hospital, 4th Floor, in Thunder Bay is now over. All restrictions have been lifted for both 4 North, Hospice and Palliative Care Unit and 4 South, Transitional Care Unit.

Prior to the outbreak, significant measures were already in place to reduce the likelihood of transmission of the virus within the facility. Expanded precautions were implemented for the duration of the outbreak.
