Expanded eligibility for fourth dose of COVID-19 vaccine

April 6, 2022 - Today, the Province announced that it is expanding eligibility for fourth doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Individuals aged 60 and over as well as First Nation, Inuit and Metis individuals and their household members aged 18 and over will be eligible starting Thursday, April 7, 2022. Fourth doses, or second booster doses, are being offered to these individuals at a recommended interval of 5 months (140 days) after receiving their last booster.

COVID-19 Outbreak Declared at Pioneer Ridge – Plaza 2

April 4, 2022 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and the City of Thunder Bay confirm that a COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at Pioneer Ridge, Plaza 2, in Thunder Bay.

TBDHU has initiated a thorough assessment of the situation. Further measures will be taken as needed to manage this situation.

Prior to the outbreak, significant measures were already in place to reduce likelihood of transmission of the virus within the facility.

COVID-19 Outbreak Declared at Chartwell Thunder Bay Retirement Residence (Arundel Street)

April 4, 2022 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and the Chartwell Thunder Bay Retirement Residence (Arundel Street) confirm that a COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at the facility, in Thunder Bay.

COVID-19 Outbreak Declared Over at Thunder Bay Correctional Centre – Male Side

March 25, 2022 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and the Ministry of the Solicitor General announce that the outbreak at the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre, Male Side, in Thunder Bay is now over.

Prior to the outbreak, significant measures were already in place to reduce the likelihood of transmission of the virus within the facility. Expanded precautions were implemented for the duration of the outbreak.

Respiratory Outbreak Declared: Hogarth Riverview Manor – 5 South

March 24, 2022 - Thunder Bay District Health Unit and St. Joseph’s Care Group confirm that a respiratory outbreak has been declared at Hogarth Riverview Manor at 300 Lillie St. N. in Thunder Bay. The outbreak is restricted to the Orchid Resident Home Area (5 South).

All admissions, transfers, discharges and social activities have been cancelled on the affected unit until further notice. Visitors are restricted to family members and caregivers only. Please call the facility for more information.

COVID-19 Outbreak Declared Over at St. Joseph’s Hospital – 5 South

March 18, 2022 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and St. Joseph’s Care Group announce that the outbreak at St. Joseph’s Hospital, 5 South in the Geriatric Assessment & Rehabilitative Care Program, in Thunder Bay is now over.

Prior to the outbreak, significant measures were already in place to reduce the likelihood of transmission of the virus within the facility. Expanded precautions were implemented for the duration of the outbreak.

Respiratory Outbreak Over at Southbridge Roseview - Primrose Unit

March 8, 2022 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and Southbridge Roseview, confirm that the respiratory outbreak located on the Southbridge Roseview- Primrose Unit, 99 Shuniah St., has been declared over. All restrictions have been lifted.

TBDHU continues to remind people to refrain from visiting high-risk settings, including hospitals and long-term care facilities, when feeling unwell to avoid spreading infections to the most vulnerable.
