COVID-19 Outbreak Declared Over at Gorham & Ware Community School

December 30, 2021 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and Lakehead Public Schools confirm that the outbreak of COVID-19 at Gorham & Ware Community School in Thunder Bay is now over.

There is no evidence that any additional spread of the virus has occurred in the school or in any related settings at this time. Note that all individuals that were identified by public health as a positive case of COVID-19 or close contact will be required to stay home and not return to the school setting until cleared by public health.

Significant increase in COVID-19 cases in TBDHU

December 28, 2021 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) is advising the public of a significant increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 in the TBDHU area. There is evidence of community spread of the virus in the Thunder Bay area and likely in the Nipigon and Greenstone areas. Cases have also recently been identified in other areas. Screening results are increasingly showing the pattern of the Omicron variant.

December 28, 2021 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and Lakehead Public Schools confirm that the outbreak of COVID-19 at Ecole Elsie MacGill Public School in Thunder Bay is now over.

December 24, 2021 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and Lakehead Public Schools confirm that the outbreak of COVID-19 at Hammarskjold High School in Thunder Bay is now over.

There is no evidence that any additional spread of the virus has occurred in the school or in any related settings at this time. Note that all individuals that were identified by public health as a positive case of COVID-19 or close contact will be required to stay home and not return to the school setting until cleared by public health.

COVID-19 outbreak declared at St. Elizabeth School

December 23, 2021 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board confirm that an outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared at St. Elizabeth School in Thunder Bay.

At this time, two individuals associated with the school have tested positive for COVID-19. The public health investigation has shown that at least one of these individuals likely acquired the virus in the school setting. Other individuals who may have been exposed (high-risk contacts) have been contacted by public health. Impacted classes and cohorts have been dismissed.
