COVID-19 Outbreak Declared Over at Hogarth Riverview Manor – 5 th Floor (Marigold and Orchid Resident Home Area)

April 2, 2021 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and St. Joseph’s Care Group announce that the outbreak at Hogarth Riverview Manor (HRM), 5 th Floor (Marigold – 5 North and Orchid - 5 South Resident Home Area) in Thunder Bay is now over.

Prior to the outbreak, significant measures were already in place at HRM to reduce likelihood of transmission of the virus within the facility including participation in the COVID- 19 vaccination program for staff, residents and essential caregiver visitors. Expanded precautions were implemented for the duration of the outbreak.

April 2, 2021 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and The Walford Thunder Bay announce that the outbreak at the retirement home in Thunder Bay is now over.

Prior to the outbreak, significant measures were already in place at The Walford Thunder Bay to reduce likelihood of transmission of the virus within the facility. In addition, some vaccination had been administered to residents and staff prior to the outbreak being declared. Expanded precautions were implemented for the duration of the outbreak.

This Spring Break, Do Your Part: Stop the Surge

March 29, 2021 - As we approach the Easter holiday and spring break, the northern Medical Officers of Health are asking all community members in northern Ontario to work together to prevent another surge in COVID-19.

In many parts of northern Ontario, COVID-19 infection rates have been at some of the highest levels since the pandemic began. COVID-19 activity is rising again across the province, and the rapid spread of variants of concern (VOCs) is causing aggressive outbreaks, and in some cases, more severe illness, even in younger people.
