March 25, 2021 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and Ka-Na-Chi-Hih Specialized Solvent Abuse Treatment Centre announce that the outbreak at the Dease Street facility in Thunder Bay is now over.

Medical Officer of Health Extends Suspension of In-Person Learning

March 24, 2021 - Due to the ongoing number and rate of active cases of COVID-19 in Thunder Bay and the significant uncertainty related to Variants of Concern (VOC) and the third wave provincially, the Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janet DeMille, is directing schools in the City of Thunder Bay and surrounding areas to extend the suspension of in-person learning until April 12, 2021. This direction was communicated to the school boards through a Letter of Instruction, issued under regulations of the Reopening of Ontario Act, 2020.

COVID-19 Vaccine Program Update

March 22, 2021 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) continues to roll-out the COVID-19 vaccination program in the TBDHU area. In partnership with the many health care, Indigenous and community partners both in Thunder Bay and District communities, to date more than 22,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the TBDHU catchment area. Over 19,000 of these are first doses.

COVID-19 Outbreak Declared Over at Hogarth Riverview – Birch/Spruce Grove Resident Home Area

March 22, 2021 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and St. Joseph’s Care Group announce that the outbreak at Hogarth Riverview Manor (HRM), Birch/Spruce Grove Resident Home Area, in Thunder Bay is now over.

Prior to the outbreak, significant measures were already in place at HRM to reduce likelihood of transmission of the virus within the facility including participation in the COVID-19 vaccination program for staff, residents and essential caregiver visitors. Expanded precautions were implemented for the duration of the outbreak.
