Adjustment to confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported by Thunder Bay District Health Unit

December 14, 2020 - Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) has been advised that a recent positive test on a TBDHU resident who resides in a district community was incorrect due to an issue at the lab that analyzed the test.

This individual is no longer considered a case and will be removed from the case count provincially and from our reporting on the TBDHU website.

ALERT - Increase in overdoses from bad drugs

December 11, 2020 - Path 525 has reported an increase in overdoses requiring breathing support in the last couple of days.

“Yellow Down” and “Kool-Aid Blue Down” may be contaminated with benzos and appear to be very toxic right now.

Police have also reported an apparent surge in drug related deaths from December 4th – 11th, 2020.

COVID-19 Outbreak Declared Over at The Walford Thunder Bay

December 12, 2020 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and The Walford Thunder Bay announce that the outbreak at the retirement home is now over.

On December 1, 2020, one staff member at The Walford Thunder Bay tested positive for COVID-19 and an outbreak was declared. Consistent with provincial guidelines, an outbreak is declared for COVID-19 in a retirement home when one staff or resident is found to be positive for COVID-19. The outbreak can be declared over when there are no new cases after 14 days of the last shift worked by the staff member.
