The Thunder Bay District Health Unit plays a lead role on the Community Traffic Awareness Committee (CTAC), a community-driven coalition dedicated to:
- Reduce injury and death related to the road (traffic)
- Improve road (traffic) safety through education, public awareness, advocacy and enforcement
What We Do
- Work with community partners to promote road (traffic) safety
- Reduce and prevent collisions and injuries related to vehicle and pedestrian traffic
- Influence ‘social norms’ to reflect that driving distracted or under the influence of alcohol or drugs is socially unacceptable
- Support safety laws, policies and enhanced enforcement
- Educate the public on road (traffic) safety topics such as safe winter driving, school bus safety, importance of wearing seatbelts, as well as being alert to vehicle and pedestrian traffic
